Cook County Sheriff's Merit Board

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is broadly responsible for policing and public safety in the county, with specific security and correctional responsibilities at courthouses and Cook County Jail.

The Merit Board consists of 6-7 members who review and oversee the Sheriff’s Office’s hiring, promotion, appointment and disciplinary processes.
