9:30 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. CST
Cook County Building Board Room
This is a remote assignment to cover several committee meetings. You can watch the meetings live-stream at https://www.cookcountyil.gov/service/watch-live-board-proceedings.
The Cook County Board typically holds most of its committee meetings back-to-back on a Wednesday, to discuss and make recommendations on proposed items before they go to a full board vote on Thursday. We do not expect you to prepare in-depth for each committee meeting but it is a good idea to be familiar with each committee’s responsibilities and 1-2 key agenda items.
You can find the full list of committee meetings at https://cook-county.legistar.com/DepartmentDetail.aspx?ID=-1&GUID=F1990FE7-FDB2-4981-9F7C-83B7F1CFD59A&R=82b51ee5-dd29-47d2-b2aa-554c5fd16430 (make sure you’re looking at all bodies scheduled to meet on 2/8/2023).
Note: Sometimes the meeting schedule changes so it’s a good idea to double check the schedule the morning-of. For meetings that are scheduled for the same time slot, the board may call a committee to order, then recess it, convene a different committee and circle back to the other committee later.

Finally, the Technology and Innovation Committee. Property Tax tech system cost comparison report in process.
Discussing a resolution for a contract extension on IT system for board of review. This can threaten the tax reduction period, and representatives bringing up the objective of resolution is already part of the current contract. Some are against the extension of this contract.
Some tensions during this committee meeting came up due to some lack of communication board of technology and board of review about the resolution. The motion does end up being passed despite multiple present and no votes.
Meeting is adjourned at 2:30 pm. This concludes my live tweeting of Feb 8th, 2023 Cook County Board of Commissioners Wednesday meeting! Thanks all for tuning in.
